How does it work ?

Melatonin is a very small hormone which is secreted by light and dark dependent eye receptors and which helps to dictate our circadian rhythm. Melatonin activates two different receptors in the superchiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of the hypothalamus. This triggers a cascade of movement in the SCN, which is the part of the brain responsible for controlling the circadian rhythm and reacting with many other regions of the brain.
